THE WORK DESCRIBED IN THIS STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW) IS PART OF A LARGER NUCLEAR THERMAL PROPULSION (NTP) PROJECT MANAGED BY MARSHALL SPACE FLIGHT CENTER (MSFC) UNDER THE NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION (NASA) HEADQUARTERS SPACE TECHNOLOGY MISSION DIRECTORATE (STMD), GAME CHANGING DEVELOPMENT (GCD) PROGRAM. THE OVERALL GOAL OF THIS THREE-YEAR GCD TECHNOLOGY PROJECT IS TO DETERMINE THE FEASIBILITY AND AFFORDABILITY OF A LOW ENRICHED URANIUM (LEU) BASED NTP ENGINE WITH SOLID COST AND SCHEDULE CONFIDENCE. THE ACTIVITIES DESCRIBED WITHIN THIS CONTRACT WILL FURTHER THE DESIGN OF THE NTP LEU CERAMIC METALLIC (CERMET) ENGINE IN THE MOST EFFICIENT MANNER WHILE CONTINUING TO REDUCE AND POSSIBLY ELIMINATE RISKS ON THE PROJECT.
